NORMAN THOMAS – Socialist

Socialism is the political and economic theory that advocates a system of collective or government ownership and management of the means of production and distribution of goods.

Because of the collective nature of socialism, it is to be contrasted to the doctrine of the sanctity of private property that characterizes capitalism. Capitalism stresses competition and profit, while socialism calls for cooperation and some social service, forced or unforced.

In our republic, socialism goes by the name of Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, welfare, public housing, unemployment insurance, farm and commodity subsidies, corporate welfare, and union representation of public servants – just to name a few things that define us as a socialist nation.

Liberals never use the term socialism to describe their governmental beliefs, but that’s their ideology come from. Derek Shearer, a member of Clinton’s Rebuild America Program said:

“I particularly like the phrase ‘economic democracy’. And while we can’t use the “s” word (socialism) too effectively in Americans politics, we have found that the word ‘economic democracy’ sells. You can take it door to door and the doors will not be slammed in your face. So I commend it to you, for all of those who are willing to compromise on the “s” word.”

He must be right. The word progressive is now the term liberals like to use for going back to the failed policies of history. The useful idiots are voting for socialism like never before. What do I mean by ‘useful idiot’? Mona Charen coined the phrase in the title of her excellent book, Useful Idiots – How Liberals Got it Wrong in the Cold War and Still Blame America First.

The definitions that follow come from the American Heritage Dictionary of the English language. Useful means “capable of being used advantageously.” Idiot, for our use means, “Being unable to guard against common dangers.” The Democrats are using people who cannot see the long-term and permanent dangers to their freedoms, into indirectly voting for the Democratic platform of liberal-socialist programs. Republicans, now with George Bush as president, have decided to join the Democrats in placating this group of voters.

From an economic standpoint, we are already a socialist nation. The economist Milton Friedman wrote some time ago:

“In 1950, total government spending, federal, state, and local, amounted to less than 30 percent of national income; in 1992, to nearly 45 percent. In addition, government–mandated expenditures by individuals and businesses have multiplied manifold….The US is today more than half socialist, compared to perhaps a third in 1950.”

If we look at how the federal budget is spent today, 61% of our taxes are redistributed to others who earned none of it. With the Prescription Drug Program passed by the Republican Congress and signed by Republican president George Bush, this redistribution number will climb to nearly 70%.

The citizens of this country must wake up and stop taking from the government, stop asking for things from the government, and through their votes, give less to the government. Time is running out. Karl Marx’s quote at the top of this section that mirrors the founder of the Russian Communist party, Vladimir Lenin who said, “Democracy is indispensable to socialism. And the goal of socialism is communism.”

The liberals know that if one group of citizens will vote to take money from another group of citizens, the collapse of the republic will not be far behind. The Democrats learned this all too well, and the Republicans have obviously decided to go with the flow. Perhaps attempting to educate a dumbed down American populace was just too much for them. .

The citizens of this country must push back with their votes. My fellow citizens, you must understand that a vote for a Democrat is a vote for socialism at the least, and communism in the end. . Socialist Presidential candidate Norman Thomas admits this with his quote at the top of this section.

In the current political and social climate, a vote for a Republican is simply a vote for a slower fall into socialism.

Columnist David Hogberg agrees, and he wrote, “With the passage of the Medicare Prescription Drug Bill and the imposition of new quotas on apparel and textile imports from China (a.k.a. "the bra tax"), it is time for supply-siders to come to grips with the following fact: We are going to have an uneasy relationship with the Bush Administration for as long as it is in power.”

The most obvious example of this is free trade. Bush imposed steel tariffs last year to win support for Republican candidates in steel-industry states like Pennsylvania. The problem for supply-siders is that those silver linings are part of some mammoth big-government clouds. For one thing, the Republican Party is quickly becoming the party of big government. With the possible exception of defense, spending is out of control. Recently Rep. John Boehner (R-Ohio) tried to defend this development: Even though we share many ideological similarities, Republicans are not libertarians. Libertarians are generally more hostile to government involvement of any kind on any level; Republicans share this antipathy to the extent that wherever and whenever possible, power (wrongly usurped in the first place by Democratic leaders) should be devolved from the federal government to the hands of states and localities.

But Republicans also are far from being purely conservative. A conservative would like to see the government shrink; a Republican does too, but -- in acknowledging political realities (a new defensive posture after September 11th for one) and the multitude of stakeholders in government after years of liberal control -- has often had to settle for simply slowing its rate of growth. Republicans have accepted such realities as the burdens of majority governance.

Permit me to translate: “We’ve become fat and happy the longer we've been in power. Pass the beer and cheese, and get me another pillow!” Is this really a quote or a statement from you? I’m confused about that.

I will translate still further. In order to stay in power, the Republicans are delivering more of the same. Of our two major political parties, you have a choice only of how fast do you want our republic to fall; quickly with the Republicans, or very, very quickly with the Democrats. Mr. Thomas continues his unabashed description of liberalism victory over the voters of this country as he states, “The difference between Democrats and Republicans is: Democrats have accepted some ideas of Socialism cheerfully, while Republicans have accepted them reluctantly.”

The Democrats of this country are really communists and socialists in designer clothes. They prey on people’s weakest and lowest instincts and fears. Democrats are in the business of pandering to the masses, with a hidden plan to enslave our nation. Somehow, over the years we’ve come to believe that our basic rights include social security check, socialized or free health care, free drugs, and money for not working. The trap has been set, and the propaganda pours in from our educators, the media and the press.

Mr. Limbaugh is definitely right in the quote at the beginning of this section. If the liberals weren’t so inept, the country would have already fallen. . Maybe this is God’s way of giving us time to save ourselves and the world. The United States is the last candle of true freedom left on our planet, and that flame is being doused by voters who support Democrats. As the late historian Edward Gibbon said, regarding Greece:

“In the end, more than freedom, they wanted security. They wanted a comfortable life, and they lost it all; security, comfort, and freedom. When the Athenians finally wanted not to give to society but for society to give to them, when the freedom they wished for most was a freedom from responsibility, then Athens ceased to be free and was never free again.”

The fall of our Republic is nothing more than history is repeating itself, and the great alleged champions of the people will soon control the people must stop now and in all future elections. A vote for a Democrat is a vote for tyranny. However, pick your replacements carefully, because most Republicans are not any better. At least look elsewhere, my fellow Americans. Time is running out.
